Successful BOINC:FAST event in Russia

The first Russian conference on desktop grid and volunteer computing BOINC:FAST took place September, 10-12, 2013 at Petrozavodsk. The conference venue was near the beautiful lake Urozero - one of the most famous lakes in Karelia.  During three working days more than 25 conference participants from different parts of Russia attended talks and presented their results. The conference organizers invited David Anderson, the creator of BOINC, and Robert Lovas, the head of International Desktop Grid Federation, who gave extremely interesting online presentations.
Besides talks the conference programme included a round table on volunteer computing and the meeting of the Russian chapter of IDGF. These meetings resulted in a list of concrete steps aimed at developing and promoting desktop grid technologies in Russia. The BOINC-Russia volunteer team, represented by Alexander Andreev, agreed to work in a strong co-operation with the  chapter of IDGF. The collaboration will include joint press releases, application developing, validation and testing.
So we can definitely conclude that the BOINC:FAST conference was quite successful. Based on this success the organizing committee decided to make the conference a regular event. The next BOINC:FAST will take place in 2015.
