Centre for Parallel Computing at University of Westminster to advertise 3 new research posts for Grid/Cloud computing

The Centre for Parallel Computing at the University of Westminster is advertising 3 new research posts for Grid/Cloud computing related European projects.

The Centre for Parallel Computing (CPC) at the University of Westminster is one of the leading research centres in distributed and parallel computation technologies. In particular it is engaged in research on Distributed Computing Infrastructures such as Clouds, desktop and service Grids. CPC has successfully established a track record of secured research funding in large-scale collaborative research projects - more than ten projects in the last seven years.

Currently it is leading two EU-funded projects (CloudSME, ER-flow) and participating in two more (IDGF-SP and SCI-BUS). CPC has an extensive publication portfolio of journal and conference papers since 2000 and the team consists of two full-time professors, one reader and three researchers.

The Research Associate role will involve carrying out research in Distributed Computing Infrastructures (DCI's), particularly in Cloud, desktop and service Grid infrastructures used in European and UK research projects; implement technical solutions that manage applications and work flows in these DCIs and to contribute to management, operational support and technical development of DCIs within the Centre for Parallel Computing.

To perform in this role you will need to have good programming skills (preferably Java), and user-level knowledge of the Linux operating system.

Closing date for application is 15 November 2013. Interviews are likely to be held week commencing 2 December 2013.

Disclaimer Disclaimer

The International Desktop Grid Federation (IDGF) is set up to be long-lived.

At present, the IDGF organisation is working hard to getting into shape the permanent framework for the organisation structure.

In future IDGF will have paid membership fee for some categories and paid services because IDGF aims to attract active members that really benefit from the services.
